22mm statement beads with a rich, buttery texture — dense, substantial, and made to develop a beautiful character through handling.

This striking bracelet features large 22mm Bodhi seed beads, selected for their substantial size, dense feel, and naturally rich surface. Known among collectors as a piece with a particularly “buttery” feel, the beads have a smooth, waxy quality that feels satisfying and weighty in the hand.

The traditional use of Bodhi beads has deep roots in Buddhist culture. Importantly, “Bodhi seed” is a broad term in the bead and collecting world and does not necessarily refer to the actual seed of the Bodhi tree; many natural plant seeds and fruits are used as Bodhi beads.

Symbolism & Meaning

• Awakening & Wisdom — “Bodhi” comes from the Buddhist concept of awakening and enlightenment, giving Bodhi beads a long-standing association with wisdom and spiritual awareness.
• Mindfulness & Contemplation — Bodhi beads have historically been used as Buddhist prayer beads, traditionally held or counted during recitation and meditation.
• Natural Growth — As natural plant-seed beads, their changing surface reflects the organic character of the material rather than a perfectly uniform manufactured finish.
• Time & Patina — For collectors, part of the appeal lies in watching the surface gradually develop through careful handling and use.

Meaning

• Wisdom & Awakening:
The word Bodhi comes from Sanskrit bodhi, referring to awakening or enlightenment. Bodhi seeds therefore carry a long-standing association with Buddhist practice, wisdom, and spiritual contemplation.
• Peace & Auspiciousness:
Traditional descriptions of Moonlight Bodhi associate the moon with gentleness, auspiciousness, and peace. Its pale, moon-like appearance is part of the reason for its name and cultural symbolism.
• Affinity & Connection:
In traditional Buddhist bead culture, Moonlight Bodhi is associated with yuan — the idea of affinity or meaningful connection.
• Stillness & Contemplation:
Agarwood has a long history within Buddhist incense culture and meditation-related traditions. Its presence here adds a quiet, contemplative dimension to the natural-material composition.
• Respect for Traditional Craft:
The combination of Bodhi seeds, agarwood, lacquer, glass, and natural fruit materials brings together several traditions of bead making, incense culture, and decorative craftsmanship. Lacquer itself has a deep history in Chinese material culture and traditional arts.

Please Note

Natural seed beads may show subtle variations in color, texture, pores, and shape. These characteristics are part of their natural origin and are not considered defects. Avoid prolonged exposure to water, moisture, chemicals, or excessive heat. For the best surface development, handle and wear naturally and keep the bracelet dry when not in use.
